Welcome to our church, online

Our History

Briar Hill Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church that exists to glorify God by loving Him and showing His love. Because of that, our church has a long and distinguished history.

Our church was organized on October 7, 1888 by forty-seven adults from the Strong River Baptist Association. From our humble beginnings to the present day, our church has sought to be a refuge for God's people. From the smallest child to a global strategy of missions and discipleship, we are a church with a vision for Christ. Our vision is to lead people into an ever transforming relationship with Jesus Christ, and to build strong, Christ-centered families.

But that's only the beginning. God has given our church a far-sighted vision! Through local, statewide, nationwide, and international missions, we're praying and working towards spreading a passion for the glory of God.

Briar Hill has a bright heritage and an even brighter hope for tomorrow. Changing the world. Changing lives. One heart at a time. One family at a time. That's Briar Hill's heritage and vision.

Our Beliefs

Doctrine Matters to us. The following is a concise listing of our beliefs. You can find out more about what we believe in the About Us section of this site.

We believe that the Bible is the verbally inspired word of God and is, therefore, infallible and inerrant.

We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the vicarious death of Jesus Christ on the cross for mankind's sin.

We believe in the victorious resurrections of Jesus Christ from the dead.

We believe in the visible and immanent return of Jesus Christ.

We believe in a literal Heaven where the saved shall live eternally, and in a literal Hell where the lost shall forever be separated from God in an eternal torment.

We believe that salvation is a gift from God based upon His grace and extended to those who will repent of sin and place their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

What to Expect at Briar Hill

Some FAQs for first time guest

It is never easy to visit a new church for the first time so we want to be as helpful as we can to make your experience a good one.

What are your worship services like?
Our worship services are a mix of music and style. Our aim in worship is to give God praise above all. We use contemporary music as well as hymns from the past. Our services last approximately an hour, sometimes longer, and contain music, preaching, and prayer.
What should I wear?
You should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. We have people that wear suits and dresses and people that wear jeans. The pastor sometimes wears a tie and sometimes does not. God does not have a rule for dress in church, and neither does Briar Hill. However you dress, you will be comfortable worshiping with us.
What about my children?
We have childcare for babies through age 3 (born before Sept 1) during all of our Worship Times and Kid's Church for K4 - 1st grade during the Sunday Morning Worship service. We have a secure environment staffed with loving and caring leaders that will enable your child to grow and learn.
Which translation does the pastor use in his messages?
Our pastor preaches from the New King James James Bible (NKJV). We encourage you to use whichever translation you are comfortable with!
Will I be singled out as a visitor?
We will not intentionally do anything that would make you uncomfortable. In fact, all that we ask of our visitors is to complete the tear-out information card in the worship bulletin and to place the card in the offering drop box in Foyer at the end of service.  You can expect to be greeted, but that's not so bad, is it?
